VV & reviews are out…

Vaettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu is out and so are the reviews. Expectations seem to have been met.

Sify.com possibly came out with the first review, as usual. IndiaGlitz also came up with a review. Both seem fairly unbiased, if you consider their overall assessment.

Excerpts, as usual:

  • …what gives you goose flesh is the finely calibrated performance of Kamal as DCP Raghavan. You just can’t take your eyes off him as he laces his portrayal with dignity, grace and dry wit.
  • Verdict: Go for it
  • …when you have somebody like Kamal who can get into the flesh of any character and Gautham Menon, who knows how to set up the right ambient mood and field, what you have is two and half hours of sustained and quality entertainment.
  • Kamal’s strength is that he can shine in even lonely roles (even when he can’t feed off from somebody else’s intensity). Kamal understates and underplays the cop character with remarkable discernment. The narrative simply unfolds from him.

Update on Sep. 2: Rediff.com review says “Kamal Haasan is brilliant…”.

Actually galatta.com came out with the first review 6-7 hours before anyone else did. No biggie just an FYI for future bookmarks/references.

though im a true Kamal fan, I dont like the movie as much as u guys. i found the 2nd half very intesting and griping but 1st half is quite slow. jothika’s character is boring. Kamal has performed perfectly and he suits the role well. action scenes and songs are well picturised.

VV is really a class movie and a Mass movie also.Kamal , as usual outstanding along with Gowtham.A well crafted movie with apt castings. It does have some loosen ends too, which needed less consideration.
Unlike Kakka kakka , this movie depends and depicts heroism .Kamal who can shine in any role ,when given such a darring role ,,what else you can say …..’Mind blowing ”Master piece’.
.Songs ‘Karka karka ” Nerpey Nerupey ‘, ‘Manjel veyil’ are few samples demonstrating how to make a song into The song.Hats off Gowtham. But the Much expected and hummed song of the movie ‘Paartha mudal ‘ goes unnoticed and gets a least treatment from the Entire VV crew. Felt like , should have given more attention.Though the movie revolves around the Investigation and Crime ,it mainly depends on the Heroics of Ragavan. The Majestic ,Brave ,Honest Police officers would cheer after this movie.Kamal , at his Best .Looks more Handsome and stunts are too good to mention. The way Ragavan gets out from a fire house .where he is been hurt badly ,doesnt show the class of the movie. But as a whole , VV is Very Very GOOD MOVIE to watch and a Welcome one for both Kamal and Gowtham.Ravi varma -does the magic again , no body speaks abt the camera, meaning that it dosnt look ackward or fell outside the movie.Harris ,could have done better though, still its the Background which makes the movie to keep its tempo up.Thamarai , well penned songs and suits the movie well , more than anything .
Jyothika, Prakash raj , Kamalini are perfect .Balaji gets a spl attention and definitly he is the finding of VV.
VV commercial , distinct classy movie with stand out performances .
