Marudhanayagam trailer!!!
This new trailer of Marudhanayagam (with no audio) has emerged on the Internet and MMS circles. It has been released along with a teaser of Virumaandi, and mentions that the movie will release “next year” (2005). It’s done in Hollywood style and makes us sulk and yearn even more about Kamal’s dream project.
More analysis later; for now, I had to get this video online! Thanx to Desi Train and Ananth!

Wow! What a pity this hasn’t been released– is this based ona true story?
November 30th, 2006 at 4:59 am
See Wikipedia entry, again obtained thro’ Desi Train. Basically, he is a controversial figure and Kamal claims that Marudhanayagam led India’s first freedom fight.

The emergence of this unprecedented development in the saga of Marudhanaygam’s making has undoubtedly made one realise what we may have missed. It is anyone’s guess if this movie will ever be made complete…in view of the numerous hurdles & obstacles.
But surely this must pay homage to a great movie in the making that has been prematuredly stalled…the casting, the magnitude of the shoots, the efforts of hundreds of case members etc etc.
The trailer is a tribute to Kamal - a master at his work attempting to deliver a polished work of the highest order.

hi geeks,
i m an avid fan of gr8 and only real actor in this universe MR.KAMAL HAASAN……… but unfortunately , i havent seen this gr8 trailer when it was released on NET. i saw it only on yesterday……….
it took speechless…..i was mindblown and i really amused that where i was watching an adventurous classic hollywood movie …. i would say its far gr8 than any hollywood movie coz it is directed and enacted by the same hero of all time ……. only a few guys like MEL GIBSON and so can do that . … but without even enough finance , KAMAL HAASAN did that very amazingly ……………
guys did u watch my mastero leaping on the buffalo and pumping it to mad-run by stimulating through its horns . thats really a gr8 scene of all time ……..
if no audio is a glitch , then the blurred video is a treasure …….
dont delete it 4 ever and ask ur buddies and relatives to watch and enjoy it ….. i would say even the most enlightened cine makers like MANI RATNAM and even the most popular figures of HOLLYWOOD would be greatly took away when they this holy piece of teaser ……..
no words………………

As a big fan of Tamil cinema, but someone who doesn’t speak any Tamil (I rely on subtitled DVDs) what does “Ulaga Nayagan” mean? Does it mean “Universal Hero”? Thanks!
December 10th, 2006 at 4:57 am
yes Qalandar, ‘Ulaga’ means world and ‘Nayagan’ means hero. the term, roughly translated means Universal Hero.
Kamal Hassan was given the name Universal Hero in the year 2000, when his comedy Thenaali was released. This movie was released in other countries like Sri Lanka, Singapore, UAE, USA and did mighty business there too. Hence this name. Kamal’s movies do very good business abroad, besides running well in other states of India, like Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. 6 of his movies have been sent to Oscar as official entries from Indian Cinema. Some of his movies have won international awards, like Virumandi, Thevar Magan.
FYI: Apart from ‘Ulaga Nayagan’, Kamal is fondly referred as ‘Aandavar’(The Almighty) or ‘Alwarpet Aandavar’(Alwarpet is the place where he resides), by his multitude of fans.
December 10th, 2006 at 5:16 pm
Ha, I love the sound of “Alwarpet Aandavar”…Virumaandi (see http://kamalhaasan.wordpress.com/2006/11/29/virumaandi-fine-effort/) and Hey Ram are two of my favorite Indian films from this decade, simply superb!
