The base for Dasavatharam story?
I recently discovered through Thilak that the possible base for Dasavatharam’s story could be a little-known Spanish TV movie named Tempus Fugit. The matches seem too much to ignore:
- Kamal has the remake rights of Tempus Fugit.
- The movie is based on time-travel and Dasavatharam does span centuries.
- A prominent character in Tempus Fugit is a football fan and there is an important scene in a football stadium. Kamal is said to have got permission from Karunanidhi, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, to shoot in the Nehru Stadium of Chennai.
Check out a review of the movie. Now, I’m wondering whether to watch it before Dasavatharam or after…..

hi moderator.. thanks for the update…i read the review Tempus Fugit, and its really great and sound good. If dasa hav the same plot yeah it will be great achieve and history in tamil cinema… soryy India cinema…with magic touh of kamal the movie sure rock…DASA will make the world to look at him, who is this guy “KAMAL”…. waiting passionly for the avataram blast out…jrulez…DASA rulezz

yes, Dasa’s story is based on time travel. but, the football scene has no relevance here.. anadavar is going to land on a field from a helicopter where a mega function is taking place .. thats why the nehru stadium is chosen..

Time travel story? I’m scared guys.. coz, TN people won’t understand such high class stories. They’re masked by stupid movies of Rajini and Vijay. Kamal needs lots of efforts to make it commercially successful. Otherwise, Oscar ‘Ravichandran’.. paavam..!!

I must say I am disappointed to hear that Himesh will be giving the music — really don’t see what sort of music Himesh will give for a Tamil film; i.e. even if it’s catchy music it will be generic, I suspect, i.e. like his Hindi music only sung in a different language.

friends, i’m die-hard fan of kamal. But if his movies are hyped, it becomes flop. Good examples are ‘hey ram’, ‘aalavandhan’ & ‘mumbai express’. Kamal should concentrate on some commercial stuffs also to make producers happy. Investing 50 crores is very high for this movie. thats the worry. Anyway, good luck to kamal and oscar.

who are u to make this judgement??? oscar ravi is the best producer today.. he make even average movies a big hit…
50 crores is nothing for this movie.. thalaivar’s salary is 10 crores is peanuts… UTV had already offered 85 crores to get the overall rights for DASA in all languages.. do u know that???

The worries of DV are :
1. Himesh as music director
2. Very high budget - bigger than sivaji’s
But one can safely assume that it will not go the aalavandhaan, hey ram way since it has k.s.ravikumar at the helm who may manage to rein in kamal’s idiosynchrosies.
