65 lakhs! She must've been out of her mind!

And about P Vasu, I also found some news on Music India Online and wrote a small piece about it - http://oliyile.blogspot.com/2007/07/tamil-cinema-gossip.html

It seems like Kamal's next venture may be with P. Vasu.

Do you know if he is going to revive Marudanayagam?

Hi
I really don't know why people investing much on kamal.
Dhanu has lost many crores from 'aalavandhan'.
He himself lost much from 'Hey ram'.

With what confidence Oscar invests 50+crores on this guy?
I'm sure that this movie is going to be the greatest flops ever in tamil film industry and oscar will become beggar like K.T.Kunjumon.

Kamal should know his potential. All his movies are average hits and never has collection history. Even movies like 'Pokkiri' has better collection than Kamal's earlier movies. Its better, kamal to act only in average budget movies like PKS, Panjatha.., avvai shanmughi, tenali etc., Don't put many producers into hell..!

Hi !!

I don't think that producers lost money with Kamal sir!!
Even flop movies give back the money that the producers have spent.
For exemple for Aalavandhan, Kamal sir gave back a part of his salary to Kalaipuli !!!

Kamal sir is here in India to make good quality movies like Hey Ram even though it was a flop. The movie was sent for the Oscar nomination !!!

A last, Vettayaddu Velayattu was a big budjet movie and it was a blockbuster.

I don't think DASA will be a flop and it will even break SIVAJI records.

We are all with u ULAGA NAYAGAN !!!!!!!

Look Ramasamy, know your facts well. Even though Pokkiri had a better run than VV, their distributers during Pokkiri's 50th Day have already conceded that VV has made a better profit, due to the fact that VV was released much before the government slashed prices of movie tickets.

K.S.Ravikumar managed to buy a house after the success of Tenali. With success of both Padayappa and Tenali, he floated 'R.K.Celluloids'.

Without the confidence in Kamal, P.L.Thenappan wouldn't even have ventured into production. (Thenappan was previously kamal's office boy).

A.M Ratnam's 'Sri Surya Movies' became a big player in the industry only after the success of 'Indian'.

And due to friendship Kamal has acted for minimal fees, in 'Perr Sollum Pillai','Maharasan','Naanum Oru Thozilali','Manitharil Ithanai Nirangala'.

And going down memory lane, AVM's 'Sakalakala Vallavan' is still aimed as Kamal's biggest commercial success. And the sweeter story for AVM is that (this might hurt rajni fans again after many years) two movies were produced simultaneously for a august release in 1982. One being a big budget film 'Murattu Kaalai' and the other a slightly lower-budget film 'Sakalakala Vallavan'. Both were released and the rest was history!

There a two important things that I would like to highlight.
  1. A movie-star appeal is not based loosly on openings,(sometimes collections),fan-base or budget. It basically represents what audience think about the individual and the product he gives. Kamal may not have a bigger fan-base than Rajni, Vijay or Ajith perhaps. But the whole equation is wrong here. It is not Kamal the individual that majority of the people are looking forward to but Kamal's 'movie'. Do you now get the equation right? Even many neutrals might agree that they are not kamals' fans, but still they are looking forward to his movie. That's the system that is working for the USP of selling a kamal's movie. The enthusiasm and aura of a kamal's movie is greater for neutral audience than Kamal himself(except for kamal fans). So could we even imagine that a player who has attained success and has an ever-improving-attitude in more than 40 years of toiling in the industry has lost star appeal?

  2. A budget of a movie is not something which You and I can discuss about. It is purely the producer's concern. If he decides to invest 50+crores or 60+crores or even 1 rupee, then that's his decision. Nothing is going to change even if we stand upside down. So let's not tangle with this unnecessary concern. If the producer wants to finance this amount of money, then it clearly states the confidence he has for the actor and his team. Even before the eggs are laid, it is foolish to find which are the duds.

Let the man do what he is best at: Entertain
And let's do what we are best at: O.C.E (observe, critique and enjoy!)

Mr. Rama, don't worry boss, Dasa will be greatest ever hit in Kollywood history. Don't take sottai & vijay as roll model for tamil films. They are the one to spoil the industry. Kamal knows how to earn money in kollywood. For e.g. Magalir mattum, sadhileelavadhi. But he won't do this often. He wants quality. If he earns 50Crores from 1 movie, he'll not buy halls/shopping mall/real estate, but he'll invest everything for movies. He's dedicated to Movie industry. Just keep quiet and open mouth after dasa's release.
