Opening up Dasavatharam further (new still)

Dasavatharam got opened up further today, with a new still and Kamal’s interview in The Hindu. Here are some highlights:
“Dasavatharam has a lot of Al Gore in it, and also Ramanujar,” he says.
“For one, there are 10 characters, ranging in scope from a Ramanujar and a Galileo to a particle physicist. Computer graphics bring to life many of the scenes.”
“Amitabh Bachchan will also be here,” adds Kamal. “Chan is well known to the producer. So he decided to invite him. It will be a grand event,” he says with a smile.
“I enjoy telling stories so it was a wonderful experience. And it’s been a great team, together with an understanding producer (Oscar Ravichandran) and a competent director (K.S. Ravikumar) at the helm. It’s not as though there were no egos but the project sailed smoothly thanks to frank and creative exchanges,” Kamal adds.
“It’s rare for a composer from the north to create tunes that allow the lyricist here to lend words with equal ease. Himesh has pulled that off. You will find in Himesh’s song, the joy of an M.S.Viswanathan tune. Those in the unit were initially sceptical but they fell for his music,” says Kamal.
No conversation with Kamal is complete without a reference to his mentor Ananthu. “He would always say, ‘keep it simple.’ I’ve followed that,” says the veteran. The humour and fun of ‘Michael Madana Kamarajan,’ the sadness of ‘Mahanadhi,’ the sentimentality of ‘Thevar Magan’ and the emotions of ‘Hey!Ram!’ are all woven into a screenplay that is irreverent enough to defy pundit-driven formulas. Yet, ‘Dasavatharam’ will remain faithful to time-tested storytelling techniques, he says.

As the age old saying goes, எதிர்ப்பார்ப்புக்கள் சந்தோஷங்களை குறைக்கும்.Sincerely hope that Dasavatharam won’t have to go through the same ordeal as Aalavandhan.Lets keep out fingers crossed.

Oh my Goodness ! , Dasa has a lot more complexity in it than i thought … You know what , i dont want anymore talented men like KAMALJI to be born in a very weird-sensed nation like India and regret everytime they wanted to make a purely magnanimous creative piece …… it sucks
GOD , help my man , in delivering more wonder films like this

Well; Kamal seems to have pulled off yet another brilliant effort from his team. But I do think that the movie is getting publicized big time, which can actually backfire sometimes. The expectations are sky high and I do hope the film lives up to the mountainous expectations of people. While diehard Kamal fans like us are sure to watch the movie and give it the necessary ‘opening collections’, it’s up to the people to decide the fate of the movie.

“Avathar Singh”, “7th century NAMBI” and “scientist”, three stills out of ten getups revealed now officially.
DASAVATHARAM is going to be released on MAY. So this is the right time they r releasing some stills & we expect more on coming days.
DASA FEVER is ‘going up’ day by day overtaking the sun’s heat in Tamil Nadu.
Past is past. Do not link DASA with any movie of KAMALJI. I am SURE that DASA will be a CLEAN ENTERTAINER with CLASSY TOUCH of KAMALJI.
obviously, Dasavatharam will be a SUPER DUPER HIT in BOX OFFICE. No doubt about it. So, avoid negative thinking.
I rate KAMALJi as ‘one of the BEST CONTEMPORARY SCREENPLAY WRITERS in INDIA’. He knows the pulse rate & “TASTE BUDS” of the MASSES. With touching “BIOLOGICAL WEAPON”, a unique theme which will be a future prolbem for this WORLD, KAMALJI proves HIMSELF one step ahead of ALL.
Next FRIDAY 25th, going to be a MEMORABLE one for TAMIL FILM INDUSTRY. And of course INDIAN CINEMA.
DASA will surely SHATTER all previous theatre collections. ” DASAVATHARAM will be a MEGA HIT of 2008 ! “

Heartas,
I do apologise if I sounded negative. I, of all people, do not want to sound negative and I never meant my comment to be interpreted that way. All I want is for Dasavatharam to be a box office success and also for it to do well with the critics. As Karthick points out, each time Kamal Haasan comes out with a classy act the theatre going public and the industry alike have dropped him like a hot potatoe.Their consistency in appreciating his efforts have always been questionable. I repeat what I said earlier- I sincerely hope that this flick would not go through the same ordeal as Aalavandhan.Even though Aalavandhan, in my view, was way ahead of its time the audience never bothered to appreciate it. Same can be said about Anbe Sivam.I expected him to win a National Award for his performance in AS.But surprisingly,it did not materialise.Hence, I do hope that this time the public will appreciate Kamal for the entertainer who he is, before it is too late.
As Karthick says- “i dont want anymore talented men like KAMALJI to be born in a very weird-sensed nation like India and regret everytime they wanted to make a purely magnanimous creative piece …… it sucks”.I agree with him 100%. The same thought has crossed my mind on so many occassions.Kamal Haasan is a truly international actor/entertainer.The Indian sub-continent is too small a place for him to ply his trade.

Gajen , thanks man … I hope every single kamal fan has the same thought as like we two have … i’m just sure about it …
Hey everyone ,
i have a serious doubt about kamalji’s acting career and his stay within the south india’s film realm…. Because , even with his first hindi film , we got the chance to be a gr8 entertainer for Bolly , but he didnt do that … But i heard from the grapevine , that the BigB’s of bolly deliberately pushed him away down south , possibly fearing about his growing stardom … BUT , why have not Kamalji , tried any foreign film … I’m pretty sure that , after seeing his performance across india , many invitations would have came to him , asking for a foreign performance … Why didnt he do it? for the heavensake , he must have accept them … But i always feel there is a great reason , behind it …. SOMEONE , who knew the answer , please comment here or mail me to

Yes, there is talk that Amitaabh Bachchan used to buy Kamal movies for distribution (through proxy) and not give it to theatres. But considering that they are amicable now and even acted together in Geraftaar, it doesn’t seem fully believable.

thanks randramble, but that doesnt throw light on the whole thing … i too have asked why Kamalji hadn’t tried any performances in a foreign film other than indian films , since i knew already he had done a plenty of other regional films esp. in south india and also in bengali and other hindi films … Simply , Why he have not undergone any experimentation like that ??? I also think , why he always wanted to make films in tamil , when a large portion of it , doesn’t give a damn it … See , also , it must be obvious that doing foreign films is not that out of reach for a talented men like Kamalji , i think he simply doesnt wanted to and that’s the thing that i wanted to know …. You must recollect that any indian artists getting recognized in the hollywood in the late days like Manoj N Shyamalan as a director and Kal Penn in many of the teen films and much more …
After all , Kamal Hassan can do things 1000 times lot better than Kal Penn can do….
