Kamal in U Me Aur Hum!

Okay, don’t get confused by the title! It indicates references to Kamal movies in the just-released U Me Aur Hum and some ‘inspiration’ from them too. Here are the instances I noticed:

  • Ajay Devgan uses the funny exchange from Avvai Shanmughi (and Chachi 420) and Kajol uses it back on him later:

    “How do you know that?”
    “You told me.”
    “When?”
    “Just now!”

  • There is a dialogue which mentions how even doctors are forgetful these days, leaving behind watches and even mobile phones inside the patient’s body after a surgery. Pammal K Sambandham, anyone?
  • Then, we have a long monologue by Ajay Devgan which refers to Ek Duuje Ke Liye and the “Hum bane tum bane…” song in it.

Now, we don’t know who got inspired by Kamal movies — Ajay Devgan (also the producer / director) or Ashwani Dhir, the dialogue writer. But we can be happy to see references to Kamal in a well-intentioned movie.

Kamal @ Tamil film industry fast

Kamal joined fellow industrymen for a fast for the Cauvery-Hogenakkal issue. Among rhetoric and angry speeches, Kamal shone with his restrained and sensible approach. Thatstamil has full details. IndiaGlitz has a report featuring audio of Kamal’s speech and as usual, a wide array of photos. There is a video of the full speech too; but you need to have patience to wade through a lot of preceding trash. The Hindu too carried a report.

Kamal arrived a little late, possibly from out of town. The earlier report that he came from USA seems to be a rumour.

Fast for Cauvery issue, return from USA?

Kamal will take part in the fast organized by the Tamil film industry on April 4. This is a protest to condemn the violence against Tamils in Karnataka, on the Cauvery-Hogenakkal issue. He is said to be returning from the USA around noon. We remember that Kamal participated in a similar protest in 2002 too.

We knew that he had gone to Mumbai. That was probably en route to the Land of Opportunities. We are also eager to know what he news he brings from there.

See reports from The Hindu, Sify.com, Thatstamil, Tamilcinema.com and Webdunia.
