Unnaipol Oruvan trailer, Eenadu trailer & stills!!!

While the Eenadu trailer was launched officially in Hyderabad on Saturday and distributed to various Web-sites, Unnaipol Oruvan’s was soft-launched on Facebook around midnight (India time) subsequently. We expect the Tamil trailer to be officially launched on August 31, Monday, along with the audio. Till then, check out the one on Facebook and the Telugu trailer on IndiaGlitz or 123Telugu.com.

Both trailers look slick and setup the basic plot which will help draw audience to the theatres. But surprisingly, the Tamil version is a whole 50 seconds longer.

A good number of stills of Eenadu are out too! Check out 123Telugu.com (stills | posters) and GreatAndhra.com.

Golden Jubilee: Kamal Express rolling!

As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations organized by Vijay TV, “Kamal Express” rolled out of Chennai on August 24, as per plan.

The bus left from AVM Studios and was flagged off by AVM Saravanan. It is apt that the bus originated from here since Kamal’s first movie Kalathur Kannammaa was shot here. Others present included Aksharaa Haasan, Subbulakshmi, Rama Narayanan and VC Guhanathan. Read more from The Hindu and Behindwoods.

IndiaGlitz has a video and photos for a peek into the bus, speeches by the guests and more. Also, check out Galatta.com, Behindwoods and Chennai365 (1 | 2 | 3).

Several members of the Kamal Haasan Orkut community were there, including Shankar ‘Ulagam’. Check out their celebrations and posters in these photos.

The bus was also sighted at Puducherry (Pondicherry). Did you catch the bus anywhere? Let us know your experiences in the Comments section!

Golden Jubilee: wishes & media coverage

When Kamal stepped into his Golden Jubilee year on August 12, there were several who wished him. Kamal celebrated the occasion with a few close associates and well-wishers.

There were quite a few who put out ads in newspapers, while partially seeking publicity for themselves. Here are some of them.

Unlike some earlier occasions including Dasavathaaram, the media did justice this time.

Golden Jubilee celebrations

News and rumours of Kamal’s Golden Jubilee celebrations have been going around ever since he mentioned it in the Unnaippol Oruvan press meet. We have been resisting posting about it since details are still not clear, even though August 12 is just around the corner.

  • The event will be called “Kalathil Kaaloondri 50” (”50 years after setting foot on the terrain”, shall we say?).
  • Initially, the function was supposed to happen in July; now, it looks like it will be at the end of the month, followed by the release of Unnaippol Oruvan / Eenadu in September.
  • The possible venue is Island Grounds in Chennai, as it would be able to accommodate that hordes of fans expected.
  • Several Chief Ministers and big movie stars are expected to grace the function.
  • There is also some confusion on which television channel will be involved. It was supposed to be Vijay TV, but now it has changed hands to Kalaignar TV apparently due to political pressure. See reports from Thatstamil and Thenaali.com (1 | 2).
  • There was a rumour that Walt Disney would be sponsoring the event. The Walt Disney connection was because they were the producers of The 19th Step, which doesn’t seem to happening now.
  • A section of fans wanted Kamal to get into politics and use this occasion for that. He strongly rejected the idea.
  • Some other fans meanwhile plan to release a music album.

Web-sites like Glamsham.com, IndiaGlitz and Behindwoods have started featuring write-ups for the occasion. Also read pieces and reports from Webdunia (1 | 2), IndiaGlitz, Thenaali.com and ChennaiOnline.

Meanwhile, hectic activity is going on in the Kamal Haasan Orkut group. Featured here is one of the graphics that was posted there by Shankar ‘Ulagam’ (of Lyrix in Pix fame).

Unnaippol Oruvan / Eenadu release in September

Though Kamal never committed to it, fans expected Unnaippol Oruvan / Eenadu to release on August 12, the 50th anniversary of his entry into movies. With that date just around the corner, it is obvious that it’s not going to happen. The movie is now expected to hit theatres in September. Reliable sources cite post-production delays as the real reason.

The media, as usual, chip in with their own speculations. Check out Express Buzz, Thatstamil, Behindwoods, IndiaGlitz, IndiaGlide, IdleBrain.com, SivajiTV and MetroMatinee.com.
